I came back from a quick road trip with a trunk full of hackable hardware. After grabbing a little caffeine this morning, I thought we'd try something different for those slow Sundays. I'm going to come up some interesting hacking kit, point out a few classic hacks for it, and challenge you guys to come up with something better. Every so often, we'll be sending some of said hardware to the most worthy of commenters. Read on to check out our first 'Hackit' challenge.

in the effort of getting all the tivo hacks up here, this is one sent in (thanks everyone) is a cook book on upgrading a stock sa2, adding more hard disk space, second drives, or getting command line access and tivoweb running on it. it's not for the advanced hardcore folks, but a good start. if you have other ones, send them in or post'em up!

a few people have sent in a lot of kind words about putting all the tivo hacks  in one spot on the web, here in our tivo.hackaday.com section. one request someone had was for the mac peeps and how to get the shows off a series 1 tivo under mac os x, so here ya go!

this is _the_ resource for upgrading your tivo. choose your model (over 44 available), choose the type of upgrade (add a drive, replace a drive, add two drives, or restore). set the options, then get the detailed instructions. nicely done.

i'll be adding an entire section on tivo hacking, but for now, here's a cool hack to display rss feeds on your series 1/2 tivo. just grab the tivo control station and this hack and you're good to go.
